Gunning for the light

Posted on October 26, 2017February 21, 2019 by Jill Willis

Our neighbor noticed a small bump in his driveway. Over the course of a few weeks, it grew larger and larger, finally breaking the asphalt. What on earth could rupture something so thick and hard?

Unable to contain our curiosity, we pulled back the cracked edges and discovered a beige, rubbery substance. My neighbor poked it. The thing bounced back.

“A mushroom!” he pronounced. We eyed it thoughtfully. He was right—a baseball-sized mushroom had forced its way through a seemingly impenetrable surface to find the light.

What if everyone worked as hard to find Jesus’ light? If we let our light shine for others? Working together, we could chase away darkness. Right?! Let’s give it a try!
